What about cheaper video packages out there?
Anyone with a camera and a laptop can, and do, sell wedding videos. If all you’re wanting is a record of the day, then they may be fine for you. Some even have some nice looking promo reels on their website. But you get what you pay for no-matter what they tell you. Even if they film it beautifully, it would take them the best part of 50 hours to edit a full wedding properly. So either they only shoot video for short highly styled snapshots of the wedding day - which is what many photographers do or it will be your average stock standard coverage that we've all seen before.

Couldn’t I just get a package deal – photos and video – from my photographer?
Without being harsh – video is simply an up-sell for a photographer. Photographers know little about video, just as we cannot claim to be experts in photography; they are completely different areas of expertise. If a photographer is offering video, he is either increasing his bottom line by outsourcing and on-selling a video service or he is only shooting short snippets of video through his DSLR camera. That ain't a Wedding Movie!
