MEET THE STAFF
BEN - Owner, Videographer
Ben Whimpey has been directing films since he was seven, when he made his first movie using his Dad’s camcorder and starring his favourite Lego pieces.
The years that followed have seen Ben develop his talent and passion for the craft, with his short films being screened around the world and taking out numerous awards. These include the 15/15 Film Festival Best Drama award and AVPA Best Short Film award for Damien (2006), a real-life story about drugs and violence.
WeddingMovies began in 1998 and has seen Ben direct hundreds of weddings of all cultures and styles. Ben saw the need to offer couples something more than the old and familiar 'daggy' wedding video, and so pioneered a multi-camera approach to filming weddings. This capture-all method remains one of the aspects that makes a WeddingMovies’ video stand out above the rest.
His warm, easy-going personality and engaging smile make Ben a naturally talented wedding director. His style is candid and his attitude is to 'blend in' to your day, capturing the best possible video memory of your wedding.
The success of WeddingMovies is thanks to Ben's early decision to build a great team of other talented people around him.

STEVEN - Managing Director, Videographer,
Editor
Steven joined the team at WeddingMovies in 2004 and has directed and edited countless weddings and corporate videos. Although he stopped short of being behind the camera at his own wedding, he did do his own editing!
At WeddingMovies Steven works hard to bring order to the creative chaos and see the team move from great potential to concrete reality. Under Steven’s management, WeddingMovies has developed strong workflow systems that allow the team to best use our creativity and boutique style to achieve the dreams and expectations of our clients.
Steven is married to the beautiful Jane and has a daughter, Abby.

JACOB - Videographer, Editor.
We first recognized Jacob’s amazing creative potential when he did work experience with WeddingMovies. After he completed high school, we nabbed Jacob before anyone else saw his talent, and have put him to great use ever since. Jacob is creative and gifted in filming and editing and producing, and is unashamedly the team’s computer nerd with the answer to any IT curveball thrown his way. Jacob has keen knowledge of motion graphics and special effects and loves to keep up with the latest technology and programs.

LIZ- Administration

Liz is also responsible for the amazingly efficient accounts, filing and storage system that has recently blitzed the office, and often generously makes everyone cups of tea.

DAN - Videographer, Editor
Dan has been filming weddings for many years and met Ben….. Dan has since become a Wedding Movie Director and Editor. He has quickly become a part of the team.
Thanks to his commitment and skill Dan has quickly risen up the ranks to become one of our busiest wedding movie directors.
Dan is also an aspiring screenwriter and filmmaker.
Dan is the first of the WeddingMovies directors to become a father! His son Charlie was born on 8th June 2007. Dan loves an adventure and his recent trip to South America provided more than one memorable moment!
Dan has been filming weddings for many years and met Ben….. Dan has since become a Wedding Movie Director and Editor. He has quickly become a part of the team.

GAVIN - Videographer, Editor
Gavin is the quiet achiever of the team, with his gentle and unassuming nature fronting a raging creativity in animation and design. A skilled animation graduate from the Victorian College of the Arts, Gavin brings balance to the sometimes loud and crazy work environment of the office. He can always be relied on to produce a very high quality product in the time frame set.

CHRISTINE - Director, Editor & Marketing

Christine joined the team in November 2008 as an editor . Her eye for detail and creativity has brought a fresh new element to the team.
Since 2008 Christine has developed her skills and has become WeddingMovies Director. Christine has a loving, addictive, bubbly personality and makes everyone at the office laugh at her emotional outbursts of laughter and tears, during vows and speeches, whilst editing weddings.

Christine's accomplished actor and singer who has performed in numerous television programs, plays and films, she has been an assistant director for Hobson's Choice featuring Ian Smith from Neighbours. She graduated from Ballarat Academy of Performing Arts in Musical Theatre in 2002. She dreams to be starring in front of the camera, but is enjoying working behind the scenes and sharing the emotional, memorable moments of WeddingMovies.
